Freelance writer and poet, Ari Safari, who identifies as a lesbian but adds “others classify me as a soft stud (whatever that means) lol” experienced her very first open mic performance at Thou Art Woman.
Ari shares that: “ Thou art Woman gave me a platform to stop hiding behind the pages and bring my writing into life. I’ve always written poems and songs for others until one day a friend of mine, Carla Remington, told me about this event. An event where I could be myself and share my talent and tribulations with my LGBT community. After my first experience, I felt like I was home, I found a family that accepted me for me. A place where others could also perform and be themselves as well. Thou Art Woman was my very first open mic experience and for my friends as well. It motivated me and inspired me to continue with my dreams of becoming a phenomenal spoken word poet. This is a place where we can come together as one and support one another. I’m not sure exactly how to word what it means to me but I can tell you what it did for me….. It helped me overcome my fears and I will always be thankful for that. Thank you.”
Moe about Ari: “I meet with clients on the daily basis in regards to entertainment or professional writing inquiries. I started this business in 2007 in Atlanta where my focus was more on entertainment (songwriting, artist biographies and press releases) when I moved to Florida I expanded my business to professional writing needs such as resumes, contracts, brochures, grants, etc. I also do academic work but it’s very limited. I have an online portfolio with example work which can be seen at my website –www.iamdream3d.com.
My business is called “dream3d writing services” because of the different types of writing that I do. Academic, entertainment, and professional services. Three different “dimensions.”
We look forward to Thou Art Woman this Saturday, July 16. Get your tickets now at the Eventbrite link below:
