As this next Thou Art Woman scheduled for July 16th approaches I thought to reach out to people to have them share why Thou Art Woman is important to them. Linda Gonzalez, a lawyer, who identifies as Straight, shares her thoughts on Thou Art Woman:
“It means celebrating the things that make us all different, celebrating the uniqueness in us all, knowing that I will leave Thou Art Woman with a better perspective of this world and each individual that surrounds us everywhere we go. Despite how much I enjoy, feel welcomed, and think I know everything there is to know about those who are different from me, I always learn something new and leave wanting to know and understand more.
Thou Art Woman means having a safe place to express yourself and celebrate who you are through music and art, surrounded by loving beings who accept you for exactly the person you are, especially, if you are unique to this world.
You can be who you are, say how you feel, tell a story about yourself or your insecurities, knowing others have felt the same or are going through similar times. More importantly, even if they do not know your pain or understand your thoughts, you are showered with empathy and support because ultimately, we attendees celebrate and rejoice in our differences. It is an amazing event that makes me shed tears every year.”
We all look forward to Thou Art Woman this Saturday! Here’s the link to purchase tickets:
